Hard repression in inauguration of independent library

Santiago of Cuba, 16 of June - (www.miamiprogressive.com) The past Sunday 13 of June was inaugurated an independent library in street Jose Antonio 7 Saco # 1255 and 6 and Reparto Santa Barbara from this city. The library was located in the house of the Lic. Ernesto Antonio Side Rodriguez. Lawyer and member of the agramontista Current of independent lawyers of Cuba.

The agents of the Security of the State, supported in all the repressive mechanisms of the regime, tried to prevent the development of the activity. Saturday 12, around the 8:30 p.m. the calls appeared in the residence of the Ernesto opponent Side “factors� to threaten it and to persuade it that it stopped of his idea to constitute an independent library.

The repressive retinue was integrated by Lisandro Lorente (President of the CDR # 4), Julio Blackberry, militant of the PCC and Vivian Barroso and Manuel Perez, Coordinator and Person in charge of Monitoring of the Zone #13 of the CDR respectively.

In spite of all the threats, to the 10:00 in the morning of the past Sunday, with notes of the National anthem Sweet Maria Loynaz is inaugurated the independent library, in tribute to that not only was a remarkable writer, winning of most important national and international lauros, between whom she excels the Prize Cervantes de Literatura in 1992, but was lawyer of profession and daughter of the General of the Mambí Army Enrique Loynaz of the Castle.

Lic. Ernesto Antonio Side Rodriguez, who assumes like Director of this library, gave an ample dissertation of the life and builds of the Sweet writer Maria Loynaz, emphasizing its dignity and talent of writer, but in addition as it faced the regime of I castrate, in spite of being the President of the Cuban Academy of the Language in our country.

The activity counted on a good participation, especially of young people, who commented the importance of the project. Finally the books and publications appeared with
that it counts the library, projecting in addition films Good Bye, Lenin.

The Lic. Ernesto Side expelled from its house the militant of the Communist Party, Julio Blackberry that
it tried to question the legality and purity of the project. Minutes later, the santiaguero lawyer received several anonymous calls threatened that it confiscating their house to him and that the agents of would strike to the Police and take it prisoner under the accusation of corruption of minors.
