Hard harassment against the journalist Juan Carlos Hernandez


SANTIAGO OF CUBA - 21 of February, 2009 (Victor E. Sanchez, www.aplopess.com) In the last days our colleague and member of our news agency APLO, Juan Carlos Hernandez is being victim of a severe harassment, due to its intense journalistic work and of spreading of events that the official press does not cover.  

The testimony in its own words that we reproduce next is convincing test of this emaciated harassment, not only against him, but with his family generally:

“My brother, as a friend says well common, the ugly pinto thing. They yesterday mentioned me to Thursday for the Unit of Confrontation. The official who is made call “Michel� interrogated to me severely, for not decirte that tortured to me, by almost four hours. To the end that asked to me that it cleared the shirt to me and removed to me to everything what had in the pockets, from fear of was recording that it. I request my brother to you (you say Juan to me Carlos) that serves this denunciation by your route, seems that mine is on the verge of finishing, because when plus I need this out of service one and in those hours they left the telephone me without tone. Once again the threats that you know, but the fundamental subject was the visit of the diplomat Ingemar Cederberg, the Embassy of Sweden, and the interview that to him Jose Conrado realizes to the father. In these last weeks I do not know if it is by chance or by the direction of them they have caused to me in three occasions, individuals that “by chance� encounter me and they already want to arm a quarrel. They have wanted to fine by only having to a month the payment to me of the water, nevertheless people in my same one square must 4 months and nothing has passed him. The electrical fluid has cut to me being paid and when I have wanted to put an extension from the house of my parents, immediately the members of the CDR (Committee of Defesa of the Revolution) have been pending. The proposals of sales or illegal purchases are constant, until proposing to rent rooms to me by hours to foreigners, something who illegal, follow one another day to day. The clearest example of the monitoring and the persecution on my person are the fact that the Swedish Diplomat did not have been five minutes in my house and he squares seemed a swarm of concealed agents. I have confesarte that with the murder of the father Eduardo of the Source in Havana and the storekeeper of the Sanctuary of Cobre (itself in the investigations of this fact) and all the previous situation I FEAR FOR MY LIFE. Day 4 of December before going to celebrate the first anniversary by the facts in the church of Santa Teresita and the celebration of the Santa Barbara, I gave to a letter to Mons Dionisio Garci'a to him Ibanez, Archbishop of Santiago of Cuba, in which she asked that in case arrested to us it said by us and by all the political prisoners of the country. I request personally you that if that same hatred and scorn manages to dominate itself to the reason and the justice and is called on to me to go to prison that you do not leave my children, who once a month or each at least three call them by telephone and they pass on the security to him of which they are not single and that somebody in the world will shout requesting freedom by us�.

Up to here the stirring words of this brother of fight, that does not have more arms than the force of its words. I hope that it receives all the solidarity that deserves.
