THE DEADS COMMAND, WE CANNOT FORGET THEM

Santiago of Cuba, 23 of April (www.miamiprogressive.com) When being fulfilled both first months of the death of the brother of fight, Orlando Zapata Tamayo, we have wanted to maintain the spirit of fight of one of our last martyrs alive and therefore, to revivir those death days of its life, in a hunger strike until its death. In today we bring the testimony of Idalmis Núñez Reinoso, that participated in the act of protest in the city of Camaguey, to draw attention on the situation of Orlando Zapata Tamayo and in this way to try to avoid, which tragically happened soon.

We have a solemn debt with our martyrs and must begin to settle it with a greeting born from the heart that feels and of it brings back to consciousness that it thinks. To go to memory alive of great sacrifice independentista realized by town Cuban from 1968, when Carlos Manuel de Céspedes sent in Yara the shout of “the Alive Free Cuba� until the own generation that demolished the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batiste, to find to him parallel to the Cuba of our times allows to demonstrate us that the innumerable calamities and the repulsive excesses of the previous dictatorship were enormous, but has in recent a seal of greater and more objectionable cruelty. 

A civic march, that stops many was a rememoración of the insurrection of “the Clavellinas�, crossed the centric streets of the city of Camaguey in support to Orlando Zapata Tamayo Danger, at the beginning of the month of February of 2010. A representation of defending organizations of the human rights, headed by the Eastern Democratic Alliance cried out by the life of the brother who convalesced in the provincial hospital of Camaguey “Amalia Simoni�. 

One of the voices that imploraba by the life of Orlando Zapata Tamayo, in the Earth of the General Major Ignacio Agramonte and Loynaz, was the one of Idalmis Núñez Reinoso, delegate of the Latin American Federation of Rural Women in the municipality of Santiago of Cuba and Presidenta of the Cuban Republican Party, that acceded to grant an interview for our news agency, APLOpress.

Juan Carlos Hernandez Hdez. (Hdez.) When and at what time you to the hospital “Amalia Simoni� in the city of Camaguey arrive?

Idalmis Núñez Reinoso (Idalmis): All the brothers, next to Queen Luisa Tamayo Danger, mother of Orlando Zapata and Reina Maria we arrived in the morning at the hospital “Amalia Simoni� on the 8 from the past 3 from February. Queen tried to enter to give water him and to clean up her son, but they did not let it penetrate. Moments later we noticed ourselves of the presence in the place of the Political Police.  

Hdez: Before the unyielding position assumed by the people in charge of the hospital who prevented the access of Queen and to you, even though that they knew the gravity Zapata, what decided to make the direction of the group? 

Idalmis: The wrath dominated to us, but knowing of the Pacific character of our fight, we decided to stay in the place demanding the right of Queen to visit its son. Until passed the 4 of afternoon we remained in the place, but when not being able to fulfill our objective either to visit the brother Zapata, we did not decide to go specifically towards the center of the province of Camaguey, to the direction of the Municipal Office of the public prosecutor, so that Queen Luisa spoke of the situation that was presenting/displaying and secured an authorization to see its son. 

Hdez.: They managed to be taken care of and they obtained some answer of the civil servants of the Office of the public prosecutor?

Idalmis: From no way, to practically they expelled us from the place, reason for which we went this time to Provincial Office of the public prosecutor. It is good for standing out that a group of approximately 12 young activists of Human rights of Camaguey was united who éramos more than 30 and served to us as guide in the city. Against Provincial Office of the public prosecutor literally we were already attacked by a civil servant of the place that forced to us to leave the site and it prohibited us to be in the neighborhood of this institution, moments later alleged that only they would take care of the mother of Zapata. 

Hdez.: They accepted the oriented thing by the civil servant, or remained in the place?

Idalmis: We feared that they went to raptar to Queen and disappearing it, for that reason we stayed in the place, but she to communicate us that she had not obtained any positive result in the conversation with the civil servants of the Office of the public prosecutor dismissed of Queen and we moved to the place of “Solidarity� where we were in favor of a prolonged time, soon we went to the main park of Camaguey, with the idea to seat us in the floor and to make a poster where we would present to him the camagüeyano town the injustice that was committing with the Orlando brother Zapata Tamayo in a hospital of that city. 

Hdez.: Whichever pictures marched before being intercepted by the Political Police? , It is certain that the First Secretary of the Party in the province I participate in the operative one? 

Idalmis: Walking towards the park we decided to present to him the town the situation with our own voices. We walk 8 pictures until we were surrounded and struck wildly by the Political Police and its footmen. Before the imminent attack of those minions, our men crossed themselves in center of arms leaving to the women and this form they dealed with to protect to us, but the fury and hatred whereupon we were struck was like the majority of our activists finished injured. He was something typical of totalitarian regimes like ours, where the minimum respect to the human life does not exist.  In my case I finished with a fracture in the finger meñique, of the hand of right and forts blows in two ribs of the left side. The shoulder and the inflation of the lip superior almost did not allow me to articulate words. And indeed, the First Secretary of the Party of the Province moved towards the place. 

Hdez.: You were taken care of in some hospitable center? , Which was the decision of the direction of the Security of the State in Camaguey?  

Idalmis: Until particular cars they had to stop and to force its drivers to lead us to its quarters, soon we were deportees for our respective provinces, because next to the camagüeyanos there were young people of Guantánamo, the Antilles, From Soria Palm, the Bigeye tunas, Santiago of Cuba, etc. When arriving at the Unit of Operations the own Head of Confrontation, it was alarmed by the state in which it found me and one offered to take me to the hospital, but I refused fully. 

Hdez.: Idalmis, your you know that a campaign of identification of all the people is being realized who commit abuses against the pacific opposition and the defenders of the human rights?

Idalmis: If, clearly. The opposition generally and I say generally, because in Cuba all we must be competing by the characteristic of the regime: the independent journalists, the members of the civil society, the population even must participate in the documentation of our historical memory. We cannot that these abusers are unpunished. From already it is even necessary to locate them in the sites public, being done to him to know to his relatives so that some of their members are lent. They are very brave and aggressive when they are in the crowds, but in their districts true rats behave as and there it is where we must go them to look for, so that they are responsible for his behavior.

Hdez.: You agree with my opinion that the determination to inflexibly comply with the mandate that appears of the examples of our martyrs, from Pedro Luis Boitel to Orlando Zapata Tamayo must of being ours to more asylum to have? 

Idalmis: Totally, in addition reason must to be more by which we must to raise before memory of our deads, because they are those that command, we cannot forget them. Thank you very much, Juan Carlos.
