The Cubans that we took to 50 years of marches and parades, we can say that this peregrination was something different. A town that marched disciplinadamente, next to members of the different movements and parties from opposition, headed by its new social representatives, the members of the Municipality of Opposition in Santiago of Cuba.  

The people overflowed the sidewalks and from the balconies of houses with ignited candles they showed in its arms the images to it of the Virgin of the Charity of Cobre, before the atónicos eyes of dozens of officials of the Security of the State and the Revolutionary National Police, that saw as so many years of repression could not extinguish the flame of the faith, in everything a town. The faith that was able to summon over its repressive capacity, if that multitude sent itself to cry out justice by its acts.

Nevertheless, of the outcry - as a whisper were only listened to: “Virgin Maria, requests by us, Santa Maria, mother of God, so that with to your she helps us grace to our mother country, so that with your wisdom she shows the way to us to create a prosperous country, without hatreds nor resentments in this undergone earth. We, all our brothers request by all that today are fulfilling unjust sentences and by which they cannot today see the sun light, because hatred and they sank them to the lack of understanding in the eternal dream�.

Thus, under this plegaria we arrived at the Cathedral, after to realize a procession that had been suspended from year 1961. Year in which the last one was celebrated and that the regime had avoided that took place, so that our town did not have the opportunity to give that test of faith, that in this occasion it gave to us, for the satisfaction of all.
